Beware! Don't Take Pictures at the Myth

I made my first trip to the Myth Nightclub Wednesday night for the Danzig show. Myth Nightclub tickets for this event were not too in demand because my friend, Mary, and I were able to buy our tickets at the door.
I have been to a lot of concerts in my day, but I have never had the pleasure of experiencing a crowd like the crowd at Danzig. There were metal heads ranging from the ages of 16 to 50. The opening band, Dimmu Borger, was a real treat; a metal band from Norway. Finally after super long set changes and a horrific opening band Danzig finally took the stage at about 11 pm. We stood in the front for awhile until we were slammed into other people by the losers that wanted to mosh. Normally I wouldn't care, but they made me spill my beer. And that is not cool!

But the best part of the night hadn't even happened yet. I was sending my brother a text message and a 300 pound security guard grabbed my arm AND my phone and escorted me outside. After some very unkind words it turns the MYTH thought I was taking pictures of Danzig with my camera phone and were going to kick me out for bad behavior. In order to get back in to the show I had to show the security guard EVERY picture on my camera phone. Needless to say we were very upset and left soon after this incident.

I haven't even told the tale of the security guards when we got there - that is a tale for another day!

I was a little disapointed that my first experience at the Myth was so negative because it is a beautiful facilty. It has a state of the art sound system and beautiful decor and atmosphere. But I don't know if I would go there on a regular club night, the security gurards may take away all the fun.

  2. Oh wow. That sounds horrible. What a bad first impression of the Myth. What a bummer. I never knew that, so next time I attend a myth showing I will NOT bring my camera.

  3. photo policies are dictated by the tour. MYTH house policy on photography is small digitals and disposables are ok, no professional cameras. The Danzig tour was VERY strict which made for a difficult night for MYTH security........sorry

  5. Myth security like to rough people up. I was having fun at the Dropkick Murphys show and was kicked out and almost full out assaulted by the bouncers, then treatened to be pepper sprayed as I was walking off the property. Maybe a litte Use of Force training would be in order.

Oh, and Twin Cities Music Fan. If you expect to go to any sort of rock show and not get bumped, maybe you should just wait for the next Enigma concert if you just want to stand like a fly on the wall.

  6. Myth event staff is trained in the use of force. they have been trained by the same folks that train state troopers and sheriff's. they are trained in the force continuem. we are very aware of the high energy crowd that follows drop kick murpheys, if event staff was to the point of using freeze plus, your not telling the whole story.
